The Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce sponsors the Community Gift Certificate Program, a "community reinvestment program" designed to support and promote local chamber members. Gift Certificates are sold in $10 and $25 amounts and are accepted at over 50 local chamber businesses. Don't know what to get someone to say "thank you", as a birthday or anniversary gift, to reward an employee or to donate as a raffle item? Why not purchase a Community Gift Certificate - the recipient can get what (s)he wants or needs from Auto repairs to a Zebra safari. The Friends of the Hillsborough Food Pantry have undertaken to raise $100,000 to rebuild the Hillsborough Food Pantry. Various groups and people are holding fundraisers throughout the area to help meet the lofty goal. Please support these projects and events. This cookbook features 200 recipes submitted by area residents. It is a great gift for that cook or special someone in your life. Treat yourself to one, too! Please join us for the Sixth Annual Hillsborough Area Artisans Spring Into Summer Faire! Saturday and Sunday June12 &13, from 10AM to 4PM (rain or shine...) The Faire will feature Hillsborough Area Artisan members and guest artists. This years faire will include baskets, jewelry, blown glass, fabric art; paintings, pottery, photography; woodburning, blacksmithing, and more. In addition to artist displays in outdoor tents there will be artisans in the Center Club. Also Bob Lint and Jane Pinel will host several artisans at the Well Sweep Gallery. Gibson Pewter and Sissi Studio, both located in Hillsboro Center, will also be open during the faire. Refreshments will be available in the Center Club: Coffee, tea, cold drinks, pastries, German soft pretzels and a special lunch menu will be served by German John's Bakery. Entertainment by local musicians. Reception will be held at the Well Sweep Gallery in Hillsborough Center. Everyone is welcome to come meet the artists and view their work at the Gallery. The Hillsborough Balloon Festival and Fair has become a major four day event since it was created almost 30 years ago. In addition to the original events and live entertainment, each year new attractions are added. Revived in 2008, the old fashioned Fireman's Muster on Sunday afternoon features competitions among the area fire departments. Along with the typical thrill rides and games of the Carnival Midway, the Festival also features some of the best regional performing artists, including Hillsborough's own Country and Western vocalist, Angela West, with her group "Showdown". Other popular events include 4x4 tractor pulls, a Mud Bog pull, an Artist's Fair & a Hometown Parade. The Saturday night fireworks extravaganza is one of the premier fireworks displays in all of New Hampshire. But the thrill of the weekend is the Hot Air Balloons piloted and crewed by about a dozen regional balloon enthusiasts. Balloon flights over New Hampshire's beautiful Monadnock Region are available to the general public along with tethered flights for the more cautious. Hot Air Balloon lift offs are at 6am & 6pm (weather permitting Fri. evening to Sun. morning). Held at Grimes Field, Hillsborough, NH. Fun for the whole family. FREE Admission!
